Introduction
Welcome to the
2002 Adventurers Place Lara Croft Look A Like Contest.
Listed below includes all of the contest rules and submission guidelines

Contest Rules:
While our
intention is to publish all pictures submitted, Adventurers Place reserves the
right not to publish a given picture if, in our opinion, is in poor taste or for
some other reason. Because Adventurers Place host this contest, the decision is
final. If we decline to publish a given picture, we will notify you via email
and you may submit a new picture provided you could do so before the end of the
contest.
The Adventurers
Place Lara Croft contest is open to all female adventurers 17* and older. Each
entrant must submit one or more pictures of herself dressed as Lara Croft.
The winning contestants will be the women who best
convey the "Spirit of Adventure" demonstrated by Lara in all the Tomb
Raider games and who meet the rest of the judging
criteria.
Pictures submitted
via email must be received not later than August 25th,
2002. Pictures
submitted by regular mail must be received not later than August 31st,
2002. Pictures received after these dates will be published as soon as possible,
but are not eligible to win.
To make the contest as fair as possible, the majority of the categories will be judged by the contestants themselves based on pre-determined judging criteria. Categories such as "ShortyUSA", "Lara as Indy" and "Models Choice" will be judged by a different set of critera.
We request that you submit “New” never before seen pictures. You may use only two (2) pictures that have been entered into other contest or are presently displayed on any website.

How
to submit your entry
You may submit your entry either
as an email attachment or via regular postal mail. Please read the following
guidelines carefully:
We will not be
posting any of the contest pictures until after the submission deadline of
August 25th, 2002. You
may submit your photos anytime that they are ready.
You may submit a maximum of six pictures in any one category with a maximum of twenty photos. For example, if you chose to enter three categories, you could enter a total of 18 pictures. However, if you entered 5 categories, you could have 4 in each category, or any combination that totaled 20 pictures.
* Contestants who are 16 and younger may only enter the 16 and under Lara Category, The Composite Category and the two "Just for fun" categories. Contestants in this group may enter a maximum of 10 photos for the "Young Lara" and "Composite" categories for a total maximum of 20. The 6 photo maximum will also be applied to each of the "Just for fun" categories.
If you submit your entry electronically, PLEASE name your pictures using your name or nickname. For example, if your name is Jane Doe, you can name your pictures JaneD1, JaneD2 and JaneD3. Doing this will help us keep your pictures with your name.
If you plan to submit your pictures in more than one category, please send each category separately and be sure to specify which category you are entering.
You may wish to provide a
written description with your photos to describe what your intention was for
your photo, example: "Lara Croft in modified Nevada outfit, based on
Comic (see attached picture)"
If you submit your pictures by mail, PLEASE write your name and email
address on the back of EACH picture. Pictures submitted by mail will not be
returned unless you provide a stamped, self-addressed envelope. It might also be
a good idea to email me and let me know your picture is on the way.
ALL pictures, regardless of how submitted, must include a valid email
address. When your pictures are received, you will be sent a confirmation
email acknowledging your entry. If this confirmation letter is returned as being
undeliverable for any reason, your submission may be deleted, so please make
sure your email address is correct and legible. Better yet, write it twice.
Pictures received electronically will be published as received except
that I may change the size to fit the page. You are encouraged to submit your
pictures in high resolution if possible; the better looking the picture, the
better you'll look. I would prefer at least 800X600. 1024X768 is
better.
Acceptable formats are .jpg, .gif, .tga, .tif, and .bmp. If you have some
other format, please contact me before submitting. If the combined total of your
pictures is over 600K, please zip them if possible. While I do not have a
limitation on the size of e-mail or capacity of e-mail, many of you will.
All electronic submissions
will be checked for viruses.
Approximately September 14th, 2002, (this
date may be pushed back due to the large number of contestants) the winners will be
announced. At that time, all submitted pictures will be posted. Any prizes to be
awarded for this contest will be announced at a later time.
Note: All prizes are subject to change without notice. The prizes listed here are not a complete list and we will be adding to the list all the way up to the submission deadline. Please also be aware that in some cases, winners of certain prizes may be responsible for shipping cost. Once the winners have been announced, the winners will be contacted with the prize information. If you win a prize that does require shipping, you may choose to not accept the prize, in which case the prize will be forfeited and will move down to the next winner (you will retain your title)

The confirmed categories
for this contest will be:
Best New Comer/Returning Lara (this category will be judged by myself and maybe a select number of other judges. No additional photos will be required. It will be for new contestants who have never entered a contest before and for contestants who have not taken new Lara photos within the last year. There will only be one winner for this category. A prize has not been determined yet for this category but will most likely be an item or two to add to the winners Lara Croft outfits.
Lara Croft as Indy (based on the Adventure Hero Indiana Jones, mix your Lara look as Indy) Click here to read the details and talk about it. There will only be one winner for this category. -this is a "just for fun" category.
Model's Choice This category is for contestants who have entered into one of the regular categories. This is your chance to have fun and to be creative. In this category, you may portray yourself as any other female comic book/game/movie heroine or a combined photo with Lara Croft. Please do not submit Lara Croft only photos. Please submit picture of what you are portraying as an example. Click here to read the details and talk about it. There will only be one winner for this category. -this is a "just for fun" category and no prize is set to be rewarded at this time.
Other categories may be added depending on the number of prizes available.
Categories that do
not have at least 3 contestants in them will be eliminated.
To make the contest as fair as possible, contestants
will only be allowed to place a total of three(3) times in prized categories
(not including "just for fun" or Shorty USA category), and once for
first, second and third. This means that a single
contestant may only place once in first place, once in second place and once in
third place.
Other categories may be added depending on
the number of prizes available.
