Thursday
Thursday brought the official
opening of the 2002 San Diego Comic Con, and while traditionally there were
lines that went down the street just to get in, that was not found this time due
to a huge Tanker truck accident which closed Highway 5 for the rest of the
day. Several people ended up late or not at all. This included panel
and celebrity guest. But Thursday still had a "con" feel to it
with some of the fun areas brought by Hasbro. They had brought their life
size "Star Wars and GI Joe" blister packs which made for great photo
opportunities as seen here.

Of course, present in the GI Joe
section was the lovely Cobra Agent "Baroness". She was quite the
hit with male and female attendees alike.
There were also several Independent
Comic artist at the con and two of the artist that we saw at Wonder Con were
also showing their work here. Jerry Williams and Jesse Vail of Off
Panel/Greater Apes and Dan Cooney of Valentine/Red
Eye Press are a joy to interact with and both are great artist. Their
work is really worth checking out. I also want to mention the folks with Blood
Fire Studios. They were really cool to us last year and their fine
work continues this year.

Here we are goofing off at the Broad
Sword Comics booth with Jim, Holly and the gang. We me these great
people last year and have to say that they are some of the nicest people we
know. They should be releasing their new comic "Three Little
Kittens" this month and we look forward to checking it out!

Photos From the Floor

Autograph Area
The were several celebrities,
models, and artist on hand signing autographs and selling their photos,
including Elvira, Erin Gray, Richard Hatch, and David Prowse. Here are
just a few that we talked to from Thursday: Ken Foree, James C. Leary, Nutopia,
Patrick Kilpatrick, Lana
Clarkson and our very own Vera
Vanguard.

We spent a little time at Vera's
table taking a few photos...

Our friend and Cosplayer Marilyn
was already wearing her Lara Croft "Angel of Darkness" outfit, so
Tracy decided to wear hers later Thursday. Two Laras? Here come the
Lara fans...
